It should be said that I LOVE John Lennon. Just hearing his music stirs a mix of both instant happiness and deep sorrow , and I am so destroyed by the thought of all the music, and philosophy, and writing he could have done. All the things the world lost when he was taken away from us.
When you're drowning, you don't say 'I would be incredibly pleased if someone would have the foresight to notice me drowning and come and help me,' you just scream - John Lennon
That being said, I don't what anybody says, I like Yoko Ono. I don't like her singing, but she's alright in my book. Before anybody gives me the look, consider this: how much do you love John Lennon, or even John Lennon. Does his music make you happy? Imagine if you knew him. Imagine if your life were intertwined with his, and you lost him. Imagine how much greater her loss was than our own.
Music is everybody's possession. It's only publishers who think that people own it. - John Lennon
Then remember that so much of what we have of his was given to us by Yoko. Without Yoko, we would be left with the music, which is enough, I agree. But when you go to johnlennon.com (which I recommend)and see his home movies, and read his words, I realize how grateful I am for them. I was born in 1984, and have these things instead of memories of him.
Possession isn't nine-tenths of the law. It's nine-tenths of the problem. - John Lennon
If I had been married to a man like John Lennon, and lost him, I am unsure whether I would want to share such intimate moments with the entire world, regardless of whether or not they liked or accepted me. This she has done in an incredible way. Say what you will about her breaking up the Beatles, with egos and careers raging, it was only a matter of time anyway, plus without that, we wouldn't have John's solo work (which I much prefer anyway.)
You have to be more politically aware in a day and age like this, its impossible to close your eyes to it. - John Lennon
So say what you will, I owe a great deal of knowing John Lennon to Yoko Ono, and I am glad of her for it.
