George Carlin was more than a comedian. He was a thinker, a patriot, a civil rights activist, a liberal, a man. He took priciples usually born of hardship and frustration and used them to make us laugh. He took great pains to never let a day go by when he didn't use the rights that others died for, as it isn't enough to just have these rights or be thankful for them if you don't make use of them.
He's dead now, but I'm not really sad, because I know he will be remembered. Most of us will die, and once that happens and everyone we knew has also died, it will as though we never lived at all. He has transcended that, and in his way will live forever.
